Four of the twelve National Athletics Coaches who have been working with the squad for the last four months are left out when the Beijing Olympics Squad was officially named last Saturday. This includes the legendary and the only winner of two gold Medals in one Olympic in the 10,000 and 5,000 Meters at the 1972 Moscow Olympics, Miruts Yifter. The other three coaches left out are Girma Woldehana, Tizazu Wubshet, and the only women coach ex-marathon runner, Fantaye Sirag. Many Ethiopian Athletics fans seem to have misgivings about this decision especially the decision to leave out Miruts Yifter. They argue that his presence in the Squad will boost Morale and inspire the Athletes who saw him as their role models and followed his footsteps to win Olympic Medals.
