Boxing and Cycling are the only sports Ethiopia participated in other than Athletics in Olympic Games. Although Ethiopian Boxers played in a number of Olympic Games they were unable to win medals. It is only Chanyalew Haile, the Imperial Body Guard Boxer who was able to beat two of his opponents in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. This remains the record to date in the history of the country’s participation in Olympic Boxing. Ethiopia’s only Boxer to play in the coming 29th Beijing Olympics in the 51Kg Category, Mola Getachew, has the opportunity to change this history. We wish his Coach Solomon Zina and Boxer Mola Getachew could together work out a plan to register results that would potentially influence and inspire Ethiopian Boxing which at the moment many comment leaves a lot to be desired.
