Al-Merrikh striker Idahor tragically dies during league game

Tragedy struck Sudanese and Nigerian football on Saturday (March 6) after 23-year-old Endurance Idahor collapsed and died during a league match in Sudan between Al-Merrikh and Al-Amal.
The former Nigerian international (U-23) striker died in the ambulance taking him to hospital. Idahor collapsed in the penalty area after hitting a teammate but the images are not clear whether he received a blow to an opponent before he fell.He revelled in the colours of Julius Berger, finishing top scorer in Nigeria with 13 goals. In 2005, he moved to the Dolphins of Port Harcourt before, joining Al-Merrikh a year later but was loaned out to Al Nasser of the United Arab Emirates.He returned to Al-Merrikh the following year and has since become one of the key players of the team, scoring 67 goals and notably the final of the Confederation Cup in 2007 against CS Sfaxien.
Officials are awaiting the autopsy to determine the exact cause of his death.
In related news Tragedy struck Ghanaian football on Monday (March 8) after 20-year old Bartholomew Yeboah collapsed and died during a premier league match between Liberty Professionals and Kessben.
The central defender died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in the early hours of Monday after being referred to the nation’s largest hospital, after being given first aid at a nearby clinic. The 20-year old broke down with seven minutes remaining in the game which his side lost 0-4.
